RARE Autographed Black & White Hall Of Fame Postcard Collection Highlights February 2017 Auction

Huggins and Scott’s first auction of 2017, the February Auction, will open for bidding on Monday January 30th and close on Thursday night February 9th with the 30-minute rule beginning at 11:00pm ET.

Vintage baseball card collectors will enjoy an abundance of pre-and-post war rarities including professionally graded and raw examples of cards from a variety of designations, including Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Christy Mathewson, Cy Young, and more; a number of graded and ungraded tobacco and candy cards offered as singles and in lots, and much more. Highlights include: a tough T206 Bill O’Hara St. Louis variation (SGC 50); a very attractive T206 Mathewson Dark Cap (SGC 60); a find of T206 Hindu backs, all offered individually and many more.

The post-war collection is substantial as well with an unusually large number of singles, lots, complete and near sets from 1948 to present. Highlights include: 1951 Bowman Willie Mays RC (PSA 7); 1954 Topps Hank Aaron RC (PSA 5.5); 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax RC (PSA 6); 1969 Topps Pete Rose (PSA 10 – 1 of only 3); and many more. High end unopened items include 1973 Topps 4th Series Wax Box, 1978 Topps Sealed Rack Case and more. One of the most extensive modern insert collections we’ve offered with multiple certified autographed card complete sets, short prints, 1 of 1s, signed relic cards, dual and triple signed cards and much more. This auction has a large number of autographed baseball items highlighted by the aforementioned Black & White Hall of Fame postcard collection featuring rare Grover Cleveland Alexander and Eddie Collins (PSA 9) examples; an incomparable 1936 Amos Rusie signed handwritten letter with references to Cap Anson and Billy Sunday; a stunning Ruth/Gehrig dual signed baseball, purported to be a homerun ball from a 1930 Barnstorming game; a unique 1935 Babe Ruth TLS on Boston Braves letterhead; a scarce 1933 Goudey Tony Lazzeri signed card (PSA encapsulated); a phenomenal Christy Mathewson large cut (PSA/DNA 8); an attractive 1932 multi-signed baseball with Ruth, Gehrig, Hack Wilson and five other HOFers; a nice collection of Pittsburgh Pirates team-signed balls featuring Clemente on each and more.
